Are monthly website plans worth it for a small campground?

Usually not, once you run the full-term math. A $189-a-month plan with a 24-month minimum costs $4,536 for a website you never own. An $85-a-month plan costs $1,020 in its first year alone and keeps billing after that. A one-time build, generally under $1,000 at Magrify, costs less than either and leaves you owning the site. Monthly plans make sense mainly if you truly cannot pay anything up front, and even then, read the minimum term first.

The three questions that decide it

What is the total over the minimum term? Not the monthly number, the multiplied one. That is the price of the website.

What do you own at the end? If the answer is nothing, you have not bought a website, you have rented one, and the rent never stops. One plan in this market states plainly in its FAQ that the site is leased.

What does the plan include that you will actually use? One lease plan includes 30 minutes of changes a month. If your real need is a few rate changes and seasonal updates, an owned site plus a month-to-month care plan ($19.99 to $99 at Magrify, cancel anytime) covers the same work without the lease.

The honest case for monthly

Cash flow is real, and $0 up front is genuinely easier in a slow month. If you go monthly, pick the shortest minimum you can find, confirm in writing what you keep if you leave, and set a calendar reminder for the month the term ends. Owners get hurt by the auto-renewing tail of these plans, not the first year.

The alternative, stated plainly

Pay once, own the site, and buy help only when you need it. That is the Magrify model, and for a small campground it is almost always the cheaper two-year answer.
