RV Park SEO Mistakes That Keep Campers From Finding You

Most RV parks don't have an SEO problem — they have a basics problem. Here are the mistakes we see most often, and how to fix each one.

Mistake 1: Your location is a mystery

If your website doesn't clearly state your city, nearby attractions, and driving directions, Google can't connect you to local searches. Fix: put your full address in the footer of every page, create a directions page with highway exits and GPS coordinates, and mention nearby landmarks in your content.

Mistake 2: Three paragraphs of thin content

Many park websites have a homepage with a welcome paragraph and nothing else. Travelers want details: site types, hookups, rates, policies, photos. Fix: give every major topic its own page with real information. Thin pages don't rank and don't convert.

Mistake 3: A website that fails on phones

Over 60% of campground searches happen on mobile, often from the road. If your site loads slowly, has tiny text, or buries the phone number, those visitors bounce to a competitor. Fix: test your site on your own phone. If you get frustrated, so do your guests.

Mistake 4: No reviews, or reviews you ignore

Parks with 50+ recent Google reviews dominate the map pack. Parks with 3 reviews from 2019 don't. And unanswered negative reviews tell future guests you don't care. Fix: ask every guest at checkout, respond to everything within 48 hours.

Mistake 5: Booking buried three clicks deep

SEO brings visitors. Your website has to convert them. If booking requires finding a tiny "Reservations" link, navigating an external site, and creating an account, you're losing bookings you already earned. Fix: put booking one tap away on every page.

Mistake 6: Keyword stuffing from 2012

"Welcome to our RV park, the best RV park for RV park camping with RV park amenities at our RV park location." Google penalizes this, and humans bounce. Fix: write naturally. Use keywords where they fit, not everywhere they could.

Frequently asked questions

What's the single biggest SEO mistake RV parks make?

Neglecting their Google Business Profile. It's free, it drives more inquiries than most websites, and a surprising number of parks have incomplete or unclaimed profiles.

Can these mistakes actually hurt my rankings?

Yes. Thin content, slow mobile experience, and inconsistent business information are all direct ranking factors. The good news: they're all fixable without a new website.
